Maddoggy44 scored a trifecta last night, taking down the win, the bounty, and moving into the points lead for the league. Fivefingerz put up a valiant fight but settled for second, and newcomer XPreacherX took third. 5 point bounty next week on Maddoggy44.

We just recently hit a milestone, moving past one dollar in revenue so far this season! They send you money when you reach $100. What does that mean for us? Week 7 Results

The bounty hunt this week was a little anticlimatic, since EJ89 was one of a couple of players sitting out, but it was finally taken down by nutzforU who also maintained a lead for nearly the entire tournament. Maddoggy44 (2nd) and themerk08 (3rd) put up a good fight, but nutzforU held on to take down the weekly title.




There are 6 players within about 10 points of the Top 9 bubble, so it's still anyone's game.

League Policy Update

We have decided to continue providing the weekly tournament passwords openly on the blog, and to allow non-league members to play in the weekly tournaments if they wish to do so. The reasons for this are:

1. Keeping the password secret does not prevent non-league members from observing the tournaments and commenting in the chat window. This was an issue recently; the solution is to ignore unwanted chat and report inappropriate chat to PokerStars Support. Please do not respond to inappropriate chat.
2. Allowing non-league members to play in the weekly tournaments simply increases the weekly prize pool and does not interfere with the league scoring. In addition, it may encourage new people to join the league.

Week 6 Results

EJ89 became our first repeat winner and has taken a strong lead in league points. In what was likely our longest tournament yet at over 2.5 hours, nekendrick placed second and LaxStarr1995 took third despite being hospitalized and heavily medicated. That's the sort of dedication we admire in this league!

A7XCHAPTER4 took the 5 point bounty by eliminating xICEPICKx. EJ89 will be the bounty next week.

Game Day!

We now begin the downhill roll towards the league championship. Tonight is Season 1, Week 6, with a 5-point bounty on last week's winner, xICEPICKx. The league prize pool has now topped $300, thanks to cash added from the Bonus Situation, so for the couple of folks each week that somehow manage to forget about league night, stay focused and get in there!

Championship Final for top 9 players: January 20.

Bonus Situation

See that little flashing PokerStars logo over there on the right? That's an affiliate link, meaning if someone clicks on that and opens a new PokerStars account, funds it, and meets a minimum level of play we get some money. Well somebody actually did that (thank you!!) so now we have a few more bucks to work with.

Next season, we will be having a $5 cash bounty each week instead of a 5 point bounty, which should provide a little more instant gratification. We will still do a 2-point knockout bounty for the championship tourney.

In addition, there is still $25 left over that will go into this season's prize pool, pushing us over the $300 mark! That accounts for all of the money received, which maintains our non-profit status - this league is all about the love. :-)

Week 5 Results

I thought this week's bounty was going to fall in the first hand when E made a comment preflop about having 2-4 and my cards just happened to be 2-4. Of course the flop came down 3-5-6. E led out $100 and I raised to $500, but when he pushed I knew he spoke the truth. All-in first hand for the bounty, only to get a chop.

The 5-point bounty went to nekendrick and that took the remaining nine to the final table. Along with the bounty, nekendrick took down third place. Second went to raquel1988, and this weeks winner is xICEPICKx. Keep an eye out for xICEPICKx next week - there's a 5 point bounty on his head.

Need Money!!

Last week we had a few people scrambling for PokerStars money for the tourney as it was getting started. Just a friendly reminder that it is ok to plan ahead a day or two. Registration for the tournaments is open for nearly a week before start time...

Season 2 Format

The polls are closed and the masses have spoken. Mixed Games won by a large margin. So for Season 2 we will use a mixed games rotation much like we saw in the MDP league. For the Hold 'em voters, no worries - we will have some Hold 'em in the mix as well. This is a great chance to try out some new games in a friendly environment. Nothing too exotic, but it changes things up a bit and is a lot of fun. Hopefully everyone will enjoy it!

Season 3 will return to the NL Hold 'em format.
