Game Day!
League tournament tonight, 8pm (trial league, no league fee). We'll take another shot at getting this off the ground, although interest so far has been, shall we say, rather light. So if you would like to see the league get going, playing tonight would be a good start! Hope to see you there.

League Tournament Tuesday Night, 8pm
As a reminder there is a NL Holdem Knockout Tournament scheduled for Tuesday, 8pm EST. Please try to play in the tournament if you can, as we are trying to find out how well PokerStars will do in managing league scoring. We would also like to gauge how much interest there is in having a league going forward.
Registration is open, tournament ID: 354601903 (or find it through our club section on PokerStars).

League
Our little "trial league" experiment is off to a very slow start. As in two people. PokerStars won't even keep track of less than four. I'm hoping there just wasn't enough notice, and that people will join in. Otherwise it looks like there isn't enough interest to keep it going.
Registration open for next Tuesday, 8pm. Hope to see some folks there!

Tourney Tomorrow Night, 8pm
Reminder - there is a tournament tomorrow night to kick off a trial season for a quarterly league. It is "trial" in that we are going to let PokerStars manage it, so the first season will just be to see how it goes. The tournament is a $10+1 Knockout tournament, which means you kick in an extra $2.50, and you get $2.50 every time you knock someone out. Should be fun!
C'mon out! Registration is open.

One More Thing...
I created a few ring tables - NL Holdem, PL O8, and 8-Game - that are available anytime. Whenever 2 or more people sit at one of these, it goes. We can create just about any kind of table, so if anyone has a favorite they would like to see, let me know and I'll put it up. It will be interesting to see if these take off.
If folks want to set some informal times for when they are likely to get together and play, that's cool. Just let me know and I'll promote it here.

We're Getting The League Back Together (Maybe...)
This new Home Games feature has a tournament/league component that might be interesting. I'd like to give it a try to see if we can get the league going again.
A brief summary of the differences:
Old league: Lotsa work for me
New league: very little work for me
They support monthly, quarterly or yearly league seasons, and they track the league results. No idea yet how they do the points, except that it will be completely different than our old way.
To try this out, I'm thinking we do a trial season starting immediately, with no entry fee (each tournament still has a fee and a payout). Some executive decisions I made in the last two minutes include:
- seasons will be quarterly
- trial season will be NL Holdem, $10 + $1 entry plus $2.50 Knockout fee
- Knock someone out, you get their $2.50. Win, and you get your own $2.50 too
- If the trial works out, we can add an entry fee to have a payout at the end of the season, like before
- trial season starts next Tuesday, 1/18, 8pm
- yes, I changed the start to 8pm
Thoughts?

MD DonkFest "Home Games" on PokerStars
Hey Everybody!
Long time, no blog.
PokerStars has announced a new feature called Home Games, where you can set up a private group and host private ring games and tournaments. So I went ahead and set up a "MD DonkFest" group. I have no idea how it will be used yet, but maybe we can figure this out together and see if we can have some fun with it. Perhaps it will even take the place of the league (or the league might start up again - who knows?)
So if you are interested in checking it out, open PokerStars and look for the Home Games section. It may take a couple of days for MD DonkFest to show up, but you can use the club ID in the meantime.
To join:
ID: 33267
Invite code: wehatemoney
I'll get a notification that you want to join and will approve you. We'll see what happens after that!
Good luck and have fun!
-Wayne

Season 7 Champion: ravensfutbal
Going into the Championship Tournament, it looked like it was going to be tough to overcome the point totals of the Top 3. With the bonus and bounty points in the tournament, however, everything is up for grabs.

The league payouts:
1) ravensfutbal, $90
2) potnets, $54

Week 7 Results
I've been a little slow in getting results out lately - sorry about that, overcome by life and work. I'll try to get it back together for the remainder of the season.
Week 7 had 10 players, a decent turnout for a light summer season. EJ89 placed third, and potnets and ravensfutbal duked it out for a while before a winner emerged. I believe a 10-1 lead was traded back and forth several times before ravensfutbal finally took it down (and the bounty as well).
